A Reykjavík - In the maps of Iceland with a blue dot
Reykjavík is the capital of Iceland, and it is located in the south west of Iceland. If you would translate Reykjavík it would be something like "Smoky town" and the smoke comes from the hot springs.
B Thingvellir -

Thingvellir is located near Reykjavík about 20-30 minutes by car (inland). It is were farmers, sheriffs, lawyers and other important people came to maintain the law and to bring criminal to justis in middle ages. If you were a witch you were drowned in a river that had a spot that is still called drowning point. If you sank you were not a witch but if you manager to float you were definitely a witch, either way you were dead. It is a part of the golden triangle.

Myvatn is located in the north east of Iceland. It is very beautiful there. It is a lake where hot lava ran in to cold water. The lava changed quickly in to rocks that looked like troll and ogre. Myvatn is also famous for there natural hot pools.

Akureyri is the capital of the north and is situated in middle of the north. It is a nice old town with friendly people. Altho Icelandic sounds a bit harsh, in the north they talk a bit more harsh then the southern people.

Vatnajökull is the biggest glacier in Europe. It is a fun sport in Iceland to drive to the top spot of the glacier. It can be dangerous if you don't know the route.

Hekla is located in the south of Iceland. Hekla is Iceland's most active volcano; over 20 outbreaks have occurred in and around the volcano since 874. During the middle Ages, Icelanders called the volcano the "Gateway to Hell."

Blue Lagoon is man made lagoon. It is very nice to visit and also very healthy for your skin. People all over the world with skin problem come to Iceland to visit the Blue lagoon. Sea water is pumped in to a hot well and it comes out as a steam. We make electricity with the steam and when it cools down it has a whole lot of silica in it and it makes a beautiful lagoon. It's a must see in Iceland.
H Jökulsárlón- with a water sign
Jökulsárlón is the best known and the largest of a number of glacial lakes in Iceland. It is situated at the south end of the glacier Vatnajökull. Appearing first only in 1934-1935 and it is know a threat to the ring road.
I Geysir - with a yellow icon
Geysir is the biggest hot spring of it kinds in the world and all other geysers are named after it. It was very active in the beginging of the 19th sensory. But latly it has not erupt for many years. It has been helped several times to erupt with a soap but not any more. I have seen tourist waitng with there camera for Geysir to erupting, but I told he had to wait very long, well it is very easy to think that Geysir could erupt any minute it is very hot and we also have Strokur very active geyser one that erupts every other minute or so. It is a part of the golden triangle.
J Keflavík Airport - In the maps of Iceland with a airplane sign
Keflavik airport is our internasunal airport. We belong to the Schengen Agreement and that is why there is very much security and passport checking. The air terminal is called Flugstöð Leifs Eiríkssonar (The viking that found Wineland (US) and lost it again). It takes about 30 minutes by car or bus to drive to Reykjavik. The landscape from the airport to Reykjavik is like beeing on the moon, it is only old lawa (or not that old).
K Vestmannaeyjar -In the maps of Iceland with a pink dot
Westmann Islands are many island that are south of Iceland. The biggest island is called Heimaey and is the only one with inhabiturs. In the year 1973 there was a big eruption there and all the inhabiturs had to leave the island over night and leave all there belongings behind. All the Icelanding fishing fleet came to rescue the people of Westmann Islands. Know the Icelanders always talk about the islands before the eruption and after the aruption. Most of the people moved back but not all of them did. And some found out that they had no houses after the eruption.
